John Groom

General Manager

John is the General Manager, New Zealand Financial Benchmark Facility and is responsible for the governance, determination and publication of New Zealands’ Interest Rate Benchmarks. John was appointed to this role on 1 April 2021. Prior to this John was Director Operations and Compliance, New Zealand Financial Markets Association for a period of 33 months.

John worked at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand for a number of years and was Manager of the Domestic Markets team, which is responsible for implementing monetary policy, prior to his departure. John continues to work for the International Monetary Fund as a short-term expert on monetary policy implementation and has provided advice to a number of Central Banks in Asia and the Middle-East.
